I remember playing either Wolfenstein 3D or Doom somewhere on a flashgame site once as a kid. Thankfully I've been ripping and tearing for years now, but what kind of bullshit is it to expect the customer who bought the game to figure out how to fix the product they were sold? It took me a long time between buying the Doom games on Steam and actually being able to play them because I had no idea how the fuck I was supposed to download and launch a sourceport. Wolfenstein 3D has no mouse + keyboard support, Doom, Doom II, Master Levels for Doom II, and Final Doom straight-up don't work, and Quake II won't run either, but I have never once ran into any problem with Quake, and they give you a whole bunch of different clients to run the game with, like WinQuake, GLQuake, QuakeWorld, and GLQuakeWorld, even though WinQuake is the only one that'll work on a modern PC. The most frustrating thing to me is that, out of all of id Software's games, the only one that runs perfectly fine in Steam is Quake. Not sure what you can do if the patch doesn't work other than uninstall the game and the patch and then install the game and launch it once the patch is downloaded and installed.
